Sure. Monday sounds good to me.

[retropolis]

Great. [ He pauses, then goes quieter again: ] Thank you. I'll see you there, then, bright and early.

[waiting]

Will do.

[ This time, he picks up on the quiet, and he pauses for a long, thoughtful moment before he finally asks. ]

Everything all right, Gardner?

[retropolis]

[ A pause. ]

Yes, perfectly -- I've just got a, erm, sore throat.... But I'm... making some coffee.

[waiting]

You're drinking coffee now? [ Wow, Nelson, are you starting to imitate Mitch... ]

That's gonna keep you up all night.

[retropolis]

[ Oh. Good point. ]

That's right... it would, wouldn't -- I-- it's not actually ready-- started yet, I could just make some tea instead. There we are, problem solved.

Well, it's Friday tomorrow. Just hang in there, and at least you can sleep it off on the weekend.

[retropolis]

Not to worry. I don't think I'll have any trouble sleeping these next few days. I really don't plan on it.

[waiting]

[ He doesn't quite buy it, but if Nelson's so quick to evade, it's probably not wise to pry. ]

[ He clears his throat for his extra convincing alibi and then hangs up a little abruptly. ]
